Type Locality and Naming
It is distinguished in 1968 by E.F. Romanenko and E.S. Chernykh.
Synonym: Kommunarskaya suite, Коммунарская свита

Lithology and Thickness
It is represented by black layered limestones of 800 m thickness with interlayers of clay slates, sandstones, and conglomerates.

Conformably underlies Ushbin Fm
Upper contact
The Baigashkin Fm conformably overlies the Kommunar Fm
Regional extent
It is widespread in the Karakulsky district, in the Kommunarsky and Zulumart ranges.

In the limestones, Murgab Nankinella orientalis K. M.-Maclay, Neoschwagerina cf. crimea Toum., N. cf. margaritae Depr., Verbeekina verbeeki (Gein.), Sumatrina sp. were found.
